Aussie Oak chunks Natural Smoke

They say ‘variety is the spice of life’ and at Natural Smoke they pride themselves on providing a wide range of woods to suit any cook. But, as we all know, wood needs time to season before its ready for use. In our ‘coming soon’ section we will showcase the varieties we currently have seasoning and are almost ready for use, so you can plan what you want to be using next. They will continue to hunt out different and interesting woods that challenge the boundaries of traditional low and slow cooking.

Aussie Oak is a particularly special wood here at Natural Smoke – the wood we currently have available was sourced from a property very close to our home and was milled by us and some good friends on our own property. It has been seasoning for 3 years and some of this timber has been used as feature pieces in our strawbale home.

Aussie Oak is an Australian hard wood, also known as Messmate or Stringy Bark. It contributes to the heat in your BBQ and gives off a nutty flavoured smoke, that smells very similar to popcorn cooking.

Chunks are best used in a small to mid sized smoker or barbeque, such as a kettle BBQ and Kamado cookers and bullet smokers.
