Marinated Grilled Arbi (Taro)

Preparation & Cooking Time: Prep time: 25 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

300 gms  Arbi (Taro)
1 1/2 tsp   Red Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp   Ajwain Seeds
1/4 tsp   Turmeric
20 ml   Mustard Oil
Fresh Lemons for garnish
Bamboo Skewers
Saltto taste

Method

1. Place unpeeled medium sized arbi in a saucepan and cover completely with cold water. Place on a gas range and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 30-40 minutes or till the tip of a small knife inserted into one of the arbi goes in easily. Remove from gas and drain the water. Allow to cool slightly.

2. Oil your hands lightly and lift the warm arbi and peel using a small knife and keep aside in a bowl.

3. Mix together the mustard oil, ajwain, chili powder, turmeric and salt in a plate.

4. Again using a little oil in the palms of your hands flatten each arbi slightly and place in the masala mix. Turn over so both sides are evenly coated.

5. Using pre-soaked bamboo skewers pierce each arbi to give it a lollipop shape.

6. On a medium heat Weber One-touch Gold Charcoal Grill, place an 8" by 12" piece of aluminum foil and place the skewer on the foil with the arbi touching the exposed grill. This will prevent burning of the skewers and give you a nice presentation. Cook on both sides for about two minutes each uncovered.

7. Take off the grill and squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it. Serve at once with some yogurt raita and breads.
