Dinkum Damper

Preparation & Cooking Time: 20-30 minutes


  • 3 cups self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup of milk
  • 0.5 cup water


Combine all the ingredients and mix them to form a sticky dough. Knead it lightly on a floured surface. Place it in a small buttered drip tray. With a sharp knife, cut slits across the top, 1cm deep. Brush the top with milk and sprinkle it with a little sifted flour. Cook the damper on the barbecue, with the lid on, for 20-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve it sliced and buttered, or with jam
